What the platforms say
LinkedIn prohibits unauthorized tools that automate activity on its website, including certain browser extensions. Its guidance warns that accounts using prohibited tools can be restricted or closed. This matters for application runs, connection and messaging campaigns, automated replies, and engagement features. Slower activity or manual final submission does not establish permission.
Read LinkedIn’s User Agreement, section 8.2, and prohibited software and extensions guidance.
Upwork
Upwork warns that unapproved automation can lead to temporary restrictions or permanent blocks. Its guidance also covers extensions that read or change pages. Pressing Submit yourself does not mean Upwork has approved the extension. An approved API use case does not grant permission for unrelated browser automation.
Read Upwork’s automation guidance and Terms of Service.
What the extension can send
Upwork proposals and replies
Apply with AI scores jobs, drafts proposals or client replies, and fills fields. It does not press Upwork’s Send or Submit buttons. You review, edit, and send the text yourself.
LinkedIn applications
Auto-submit is on by default inside a run you start. Turn it off per run or in Settings to review and submit manually. The application scope defaults to Easy Apply only; external employer websites can also be selected. Applications submitted by the agent are sent under your name using your saved information.
Pause, Skip, and Quit controls are available during a run. These controls help you manage the run; they do not make prohibited automation permitted. Read the LinkedIn job agent guide for the workflow.
LinkedIn messages and other activity
A reply drafted into a message box is different from an automated campaign. The product also includes connection campaigns, messaging campaigns, automated follow-ups, auto-reply, and engagement features that can send or act under your account when you start or enable them. Turning off application auto-submit does not turn off those separate features. Review and stop each campaign or automation separately.
Employer websites and verification
When external websites are enabled and access is granted, the agent can fill forms, upload your resume, sign in or create a candidate account using saved details, accept cookie banners, and tick required consents and declarations. These choices can be made before the final submission step. Turning auto-submit off does not mean every earlier consent or action waits for your approval.
Check the employer’s terms and every declaration that applies to you. Do not use automation for a declaration you cannot truthfully make or a consent you do not want to give. Use the website manually when you need to decide on each consent yourself.
The current release can attempt supported CAPTCHA challenges with a connected vision-capable AI provider and can read verification codes or links from a connected Apply with AI mailbox. It does not always stop for manual verification first. Unsupported or uncertain challenges may need your input; a timed-out handover can skip the job and let the run continue.
These capabilities do not grant permission to bypass a website’s restrictions. A website may block the attempt or change its requirements. Review the run history rather than assuming that every attempted application was completed.
Before you start
- Read the current rules of each platform, employer website, and AI provider you plan to use. Do not run a feature where it is prohibited.
- Check your resume, saved answers, work authorization, availability, and any claims about your experience. AI-generated answers can be wrong.
- Review your application scope and auto-submit setting before every run. Turn auto-submit off if you need to review each application.
- Stay available to inspect outcomes and stop a run. If a website restricts your account or asks you to stop, stop using the automation and follow that website’s support process.

Scope of this guide
Product behavior and official platform guidance were checked on October 29, 2026 against release 0.18.1. Settings, supported websites, and platform rules can change. See the release history and the official policies linked above before relying on an older description.
Apply with AI is independent of Upwork and LinkedIn. We cannot promise that a platform will permit a feature, that an account will avoid restrictions, or that an application will succeed.
